The centrepiece of the Chora Necklace is a pendant set with amethyst in the shape of an angel on a portico holding an uplifted scroll. It encircles the neck with a golden circular-link chain.
Chora has multiple meanings in ancient Greek, symbolising the dual significance of the 4th-century Byzantine church of the same name. Positioned outside Constantinople's walls, it represents a spiritual space beyond the secular city, fostering a connection between the earthly and divine realms. Mosaics of Christ as the "Land of the Living" and Mary as the "Container of the Uncontainable" use the word chora to mean both land, as well as container.
