This lapis lazuli pendant in the shape of a fish or balik is suspended using the ancient jewellery-making technique of wire wrapping.
Fish have played a significant role in Anatolian cultures, as evidenced by archaeological excavations. They were an important food source for early humans, and their abundance symbolised productivity and luck, making them sacred in both Eastern and Western mythology. Fish motifs can be found in various art forms, including Ottoman tile and metalwork, enriching decorative motifs.
Each pendant is hand carved, assembled and slightly unique. These are a limited edition item, which once sold out will not return.
