The Khepri Necklace with Lapis Lazuli consists of lapis lazuli beads interspersed with golden oval adornments. Suspended from it is a resin scarab beetle pendant.
Khepri, known as the God of Dawn in Ancient Egyptian culture, was often represented as a scarab. This is thanks to that beetle’s ubiquitousness in the dark, fertile lands surrounding the River Nile; local people noted it’s emergence in the morning, ceaseless work throughout the day, and disappearance below the ground at night. It became an allegory for the ever-turning cycle of life in the world, and hence, the symbol of the God of the Rising Sun. Here the scarab symbol is set between precious lapis lazuli beads.
