Thonis was an ancient Egyptian city, which was of huge importance in the last decades of pharaonic rule. Like an Egyptian Venice, it was built on the Nile, and was criss-crossed by bridges, pontoons and ferries, that connected the temples and trading places. Surviving the periods of the Trojan war, and the many great rulers who followed, the city finally sunk below the Nile’s waters as the time of the pharaohs ended. The precious metals that were traded in Thonis became a sunken treasure, encrusted with natural beauty - coral, sea plants, and pearls. Silver version with moonstone, gold versions with amethyst.
