Some you just need a treat, without feeling like you're indulging in sugars and flours that make you fly and stop you from feeling grounded. This is how I did it:
200g desiccated coconut
150g almond meal
A chunk of raw ginger (as small or as big as you like it)
half a cup of natural plain yoghurt
3-4 cups of dates (depending on how sweet you like it), pitted
half a cup of cocoa powder
two tablespoons of cinnamon
two teaspoons of turmeric
cake raising agent
Soak the pitted dates in hot water until they are soft. Blend them with the raw ginger and stir in the desiccated coconut and almond meal until mixed. Add the yoghurt, cocoa, cinnamon, ginger and turmeric. Add the eggs until just mixed in and add the raising agent.
Pour the mixture into a lined spring-form cake tin an top with sliced figs (or your seasonal cake of choice).
